Consultation-Led Approach

Consultation for Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Understanding lines and wrinkles starts with the right assessment.

At Dr Louise Pierre Aesthetics, we begin with a consultation because lines and wrinkles can have different causes and are not always best approached in the same way. A personalised assessment helps identify what may be contributing to the changes you are seeing and which approach, if any, may be appropriate.

Note: Some treatments for fine lines and wrinkles may involve a prescription-only medicine. In the UK, these medicines cannot be advertised to the public in the same way as standard beauty treatments. For this reason, this page focuses on consultation, assessment and suitability. Any treatment decision is made individually following consultation with a qualified prescriber.

Skin Changes

What Causes Lines and Wrinkles?

Lines and wrinkles usually develop gradually and are often shaped by multiple factors.

As skin ages, it naturally becomes thinner, drier and less elastic. Collagen and elastin decline over time, so the skin does not return to its original position as easily, and lines can become more noticeable.

Repeated facial movement also contributes. Expressions such as frowning, smiling and raising the brows crease the skin in the same areas over time, which can make some lines linger for longer, even when the face is at rest.

Sun exposure, lifestyle, genetics and hormonal changes can also influence when lines begin to appear.

Different Types of Lines

Some lines are mainly visible during movement. These are often called dynamic lines.

Others, referred to as static lines, remain visible even when the face is at rest. These wrinkles may reflect longer-term changes in the skin and underlying facial structure.

Two people with similar concerns may need very different advice depending on their wrinkle character.

Our Approach

Why Consultation Comes First

It is easy to focus on one line or one area, but concerns like these are rarely good to approach in isolation.

Lines and wrinkles can be influenced by several factors at once. A consultation helps us build a clearer understanding of what may be contributing to the changes you are seeing and what should be taken into account before any recommendation is made. It also gives us time to listen carefully to understand your expectations and assess suitability properly.

At Dr Louise Pierre Aesthetics, patient safety comes first, and any advice reflects thoughtful assessment, honest guidance and the individual in front of us.

Our Process

How Treatment Decisions Are Made

At Dr Louise Pierre Aesthetics, any treatment recommendation is based on careful individual assessment, with safety, and suitability in mind. We take into account the likely benefits, limitations and practical considerations of each option.

Depending on the concern, options discussed may include skincare, different anti-ageing treatments, or in some cases – where clinically appropriate prescription-only anti-wrinkle treatment. You can read more about how these treatments work in this information page.

The aim is always to make thoughtful, balanced decisions rather than follow a one-size-fits-all approach.

What Is Discussed During Consultation

During your consultation at Dr Louise Pierre Aesthetics, we will take time to understand your individual concerns in context.

We review:

  • Your main concern and what has changed over time.
  • Your medical history and safety considerations.
  • Previous treatments and any contraindications.
  • Facial movement & skin quality.
  • Volume, symmetry and overall facial balance.
  • Likely benefits, as well as limitations.

We will discuss the most appropriate treatment route, provide personalised guidance and give you the opportunity to ask questions, so you can make an informed decision without pressure.

“Every face is different, so treatment should never follow a fixed formula. We assess muscle strength, facial anatomy and skin condition first, then offer a plan to give you best result with the most natural outcome.”
