Streatham Clinic

Our Approach to Profhilo

At our Streatham clinic, Nurse Natasha often sees clients who want their skin to look fresher, feel better hydrated and retain its firmness, without adding volume or making it obvious that they have had treatment.

Profhilo may be worth considering when your facial shape still feels balanced but your skin looks dull or tired, feels persistently dehydrated or is beginning to lose some of its previous bounce.

Is there enough to improve?

This is an important part of Natasha’s assessment, particularly for younger clients.

Starting treatment earlier does not automatically mean achieving a better result. If your skin is already healthy, firm and well hydrated, the improvement from Profhilo may be too subtle to make treatment worthwhile. Natasha would rather explain this honestly than recommend treatment simply because it is popular or described as preventative.

If there is a noticeable change in hydration, freshness or early firmness, Profhilo may have a useful role. The aim is a subtle improvement in skin quality rather than an obvious transformation.

For more information about how the treatment works, treatment areas, possible side effects and suitability, visit our Profhilo Treatment Guide.

Improving the skin, not reshaping the face

Natasha will also consider whether the concern is genuinely coming from the skin. Profhilo is not intended to sharpen the jawline, restore facial volume or alter your features. If contour, structure, scarring or another specific concern is what you would most like to improve, a different treatment may be more appropriate.

Natasha can explain the alternatives, including microneedling for uneven texture, visible pores or acne scarring, polynucleotides for the under-eye area or regenerative skin support, or dermal fillers if your goal is to add volume, enhance facial features or create more definition.

“With younger patients, it is really about whether there is enough to improve. If your skin is already healthy, firm and well hydrated, I would rather be honest about how subtle the difference may be before recommending treatment.”

Your Profhilo Appointment at Streatham

Your Profhilo treatment at our Streatham clinic is carried out by Natasha Akbar, a registered nurse and experienced aesthetic practitioner.

Your appointment begins with a consultation. Natasha will ask what you have noticed about your skin, what you would like to improve and whether you have had any previous aesthetic treatments. She will also review your medical history to confirm that treatment is suitable for you.

There is time to ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have, or you are unsure how noticeable the result is likely to be. Natasha will explain what will happen during the procedure and what you can realistically expect afterwards.

We take an honest and considered approach to treatment planning. Profhilo will only be recommended when it has a clear role and is likely to provide enough benefit to make treatment worthwhile.

Questions About Microneedling From Streatham Clients

Nurse Natasha: “I would not describe Profhilo as something that prevents ageing or guarantees that you will not develop wrinkles. Your skin will continue to change naturally over time.

What it may do is improve hydration, firmness and overall skin quality when there is already something useful to treat. Daily sun protection and a consistent skincare routine remain important regardless of whether you choose an injectable treatment. I would not advise starting Profhilo purely because you are worried about what your skin might look like in the future.”

Nurse Natasha: “No. Profhilo and skincare have different roles, and one does not replace the other. Your daily routine helps protect and support the surface of your skin, while Profhilo is an injectable treatment intended to improve skin quality from within.

If dehydration or dullness is your main concern, I would also want to understand what you are currently using and whether your routine is working for you. Sometimes skincare needs adjusting; sometimes an in-clinic treatment may add something useful. It does not have to be one or the other.”

Nurse Natasha: “I would not recommend leaving it until the last minute. The small bumps at the injection points commonly take around 24 to 48 hours to flatten, and there is always a possibility of temporary redness, swelling or bruising.

The improvement from Profhilo also develops gradually rather than appearing immediately after one appointment. If you have an important event coming up, speak to us early so that we can plan treatment with enough time for your skin to settle and for the initial course to take effect.”
